Your Journey Begins at Buloba Sanctuary Eco Resort

Buloba Eco Resort (BERS) is a natural ecosystem sanctuary with aims supporting NEMA’s primary mission, ‘to promote and ensure sound environment management practices for sustainable social-economic development in Uganda’. The Resort is located about 19 kilometers from Kampala, and 3 kilometers off Mityana road at Muyaje Village in Buloba, Wakiso District.

Large swaths of the original natural vegetation in the surrounding area have been wiped out by firewood seekers for cooking, agriculture, brick makers, construction, and other factors except for the remaining Resort’s sanctuary land strip and a few other locations

located along Mityana road and therefore it's a gateway to tourists attractions like Kintu's palace,Tanda pits, Nakayima tree among others.

Our Mission

The Resort’s overarching core mission is to utilize all its components to create a knowledge enterprise zone for dedicated multidisciplinary community partnership of management, recreation and event hosting communities. The goal is to design, test, and operationalize environmental risk management strategies for greater social-economic development and ecotourism in Buloba, and the rest of Uganda’s administrative Parishes.

The Resort’s business model is based on two-way end-to-end mutual collaboration between the Resort’s environmental management component and commercial components. The root financing of the environmental management component comes from the commercial renting of the Resort’s facilities, events hosting facilities, fish revenue and other recreational services. The environmental management component, in turn, is designed to increase the marketing and awareness of the Resort’s commercial component, and thus increase the overall business volume for the Resort and therefore completing the seamless and cyclic self-perpetuating loop between the environmental management and social-economic development components
